Constructed between 1882 and 1886, Craighlea Drive forms one of the main east-west arteries through the Plewlands conservation area, that has a distinctive grid street pattern.

The proposal aims to create a spacious, family-friendly kitchen and dining area to enhance comfort while modernizing the existing amenities. Enlarging the windows on one side to full-height glazed door openings to provide easy access to the garden, the large window on the other side will be replaced and resized, optimizing wall storage and featuring a double-glazed window with an opening casement.

Additionally, two conservation style roof lights were proposed as part of the attic behind the stone balustrade over the bay window, ensuring they remain mostly hidden. A new full-width opening will be formed between the kitchen and playroom, with the kitchen relocated to the extension space.
